Margaret has worked in the fitness industry since 1990. During this time I have held many roles including group fitness instructor (freestyle and pre-choreographed), fitness and circuit instructor, personal trainer, coordinator, educator and manager. These roles have given her an excellent understanding of the roles within the fitness, sport and health industry and the specific skills and knowledge required to work within the fitness and health industry. She has extensive experience within the public sector as a Strategic Health and Fitness Officer and Work Health and Safety Advisor and was involved in the development, implementation and evaluation of a broad range of workplace programs which included health expos and Work Health & Safety awareness and workplace assessments of work stations.
Margaret’s experience also includes teaching competencies from the Fitness Industry Training Package and also developing training programs at the Canberra Institute Technology (CIT). Since starting teaching casually at the CIT in 1995, since has been actively involved in the training of fitness and health professionals for the past 20+ years. The scope of her teaching includes group fitness, aqua aerobics, exercise prescription and programming, screening and fitness assessment, customer service and communication and workplace health and safety. In her various roles throughout my career I have actively engaged students studying at the CIT in on the job training to help them gain greater depth of learning.
With a passion for helping people, Margaret enjoys helping all people reach their fitness and health goals either through learning or helping them in her health and fitness club, Body Basics, which she has owned since 2015 which has been a 20 year ambition.
